Michael is Managing Director of RBC Trust Company (Delaware) Limited. Michael is based in Wilmington, Delaware, and is responsible for overall management of trust, custody, administrative and investment functions of the company.

As a member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the Trust Committee and Director on the American Gift Fund, he is dedicated to helping ensure clients and financial advisors receive the excellent service and solutions they expect. This includes providing access to the global resources available from Royal Bank of Canada.

Michael began his trust services career in 1998 and has gained a strong knowledge of domestic and international trust administration. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Emerson College, a law degree from St. John’s School of Law and a certificate of special studies in Management and Business Administration from Harvard University. He is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Tom is the Director of Trust Administration at RBC Trust Company (Delaware) Limited. Tom is based in Wilmington, Delaware, and is responsible for the overall performance of the trust administrative function.

He provides team management and leadership to help ensure administrative duties for trust accounts are properly fulfilled. This includes promoting a culture focused on accuracy, proactive service and prompt responses to administrative requests.

Tom began his career in the financial industry in 1990. Prior to joining RBC in 2012 he served in private practice as an attorney and later as trust counsel and in other fiduciary leadership roles for Wilmington Trust Company and Brown Brothers Harriman. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland and before the U.S. District Court of Maryland. He maintains memberships with the Delaware Bar Association, the American Bar Association and its Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, the Delaware Estate Planning Counsil and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Tom has been a speaker at various estate planning counsels and other conferences and symposiums. He is also a Chief Master Sergeant, having retired from the United States Air Force Reserves with over 30 years of service.

Tony is Head of Business Development with RBC Trust Company (Delaware) Limited. Tony is based in Wilmington, Delaware, and is responsible for managing new business development, relationship management and new business implementation across the United States, Europe, and Latin America in multiple distribution channels.

He works closely with the business development team to help build relationships with financial advisors, accountants, tax professionals, and attorneys to provide personal trust and investment solutions for prospective clients. He also manages several corporate relationships on mutual and prospective clients.

Tony has been helping high net worth clients achieve their financial goals as a wealth management professional since 1998. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Wilmington University as well as a Master Degree in Business Administration from Wilmington University. In addition, Tony is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and holds its Trust and Estate Practitioner designation.

Walker Tompkins is the Relationship Manager for RBC Trust Delaware’s Business Development team. Based in Wilmington, Delaware, he is responsible for business development at RBC Trust and is focused on expanding relationships. Walker works with attorneys, tax professionals, advisors and high net worth clients across the country on their trust and planning needs.

Walker also works with advisors, attorneys, and clients on the selection of a corporate trustee. He manages multiple relationships with the home offices of various broker dealers, and works extensively with advisors in the field. Working with advisors through the close of the sale, Walker plays an integral role guiding the client and advisor throughout the process. His expertise can be available for in-person meetings or conference calls.

Walker started working in the financial services industry in 2002. Prior to joining RBC Trust Delaware, he held various positions with Lincoln Financial Group over thirteen years. His final position with Lincoln was part of the National Accounts Team. Walker earned a BS in Economics from the University of Delaware.

Nancy is a Senior Trust Officer with RBC Trust Company (Delaware) Limited and is based in Wilmington, Delaware. Nancy is the team lead for the RBC Ultra High Net Worth and Special Products Administration Team.

As the administrator for the special needs trusts, Nancy specializes in identifying and understanding the unique needs of individuals and families who may benefit from special needs trust structures. With extensive knowledge of the latest legislative and benefits changes, she works closely with guardians, attorneys and court appointed officials to provide the best care and service available to the beneficiary.

Nancy was recognized for exemplary service with a prestigious peer recognition awarded in 2013. Prior to joining RBC, she was a Trust Officer for an International Bank. Her experience includes serving foundations, managing special needs trusts and other complex irrevocable trusts. She also has experience managing real estate and mineral interests for trusts that encompasses all aspects of property management. She was a Vice President and founding member of an independently owned wealth management firm in the greater Houston, Texas area that surves ultra high net worth clients.

Nancy earned her bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina and has earned the Certified Trust and Financial Advistor (CTFA) designation. She resides in Hockessin, Delaware with her husband and two children. She is an active volunteer for the March of Dimes and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Christine is Director, Strategy & Investments with RBC Trust Company (Delaware) Limited. Christine is based in Wilmington, Delaware, and is responsible for the overall investment management and administration for all fiduciary and non-fiduciary accounts.

She provides discretionary investment management services, including determining appropriate investment model portfolios and ensuring that recommendations meet client investment goals. She also helps establish guidelines with financial advisors for investment strategy, investment process, and portfolio performance.

Christine joined RBC Trust Company in 1997. She served as a Trust Investment Officer for seven years before assuming her current responsibilities in 2007. She earned both a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Management, from Goldey-Beacom College. She is also a graudate of the Cannon Financial Institute Trust School, Levels I, II, and III. Additionally, Christine earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) Designation.

Samantha Virdin-Smetana, MBA, TEP, CTFA New Business Manager

Samantha manages the New Business Team of RBC Trust Delaware and is based in Wilmington, Delaware. She is primarily responsible for managing a team of professionals responsible for assisting clients with their wealth management goals by establishing new trust planning and structures where RBC Trust Delaware is serving as Trustee, Co-Trustee, Agent and other various roles.

Samantha and her team work closely with both external and internal partners and serves as the primary representative for facilitating all aspects of the new client onboarding, account opening and asset gathering processes. The team provides a high level of professional expertise and attentive service to clients and their advisors, with the goal of developing and enhancing new and existing client relationships.

Samantha began her trust services and fiduciary career in 2005 and has experience in new business, administration, sales and marketing for trusts and other planning tools. She began her work with RBC Trust in 2012 as a New Business Officer and assumed her current position in 2014. Ms. Virdin-Smetana earned her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from American Public University and a Bachelor of Science from Wilmington University. Samantha also maintains her Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation as a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Planners and her Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers.
